Thrones are an exciting four-piece band focused on “injecting an empowered and raw edge” into the alternative rock scene. Garnering previous success from their music thus far with coverage on BBC Radio and multiple exciting releases with tens of thousands of streams, their music delves into the complexities of relationships to craft their vulnerable sound. Attempting to continue this success the band have recently released their latest single ‘Wires’ to push the band into a new sonic era as they adopt new musical elements.
With ‘Wires’ Thrones manage to use the electronic synthwave sounding elements to create an incredibly punchy soundscape, laying the base for what is a powerfully emotive song that blends the influences from modern rock and metal core brilliantly. All the instruments lay together in the mix terrifically which can be tricky when there is this much power in a song.
A stellar vocal performance from lead vocalist Jonny Walker provides a great platform for the excellent lyricism that conveys the deep emotionality that this song delves into. At times I think the vocals could have been a bit cleaner, the vocal effects at times take away from the raw performance and could have been pulled back slightly but this is just a personal preference, and not one that affects the overall quality of the song.
This song is another great addition to this bands powerful sound, ‘Wires’ and Thrones as a whole are definitely one to check out as they venture into a new exciting phase of evolution. You can stream ‘Wires’ here or alternatively find Thrones on any of their social media platforms here.
