Elephant and The Rider – ‘Lost In Love’ Single Review

Originating from Cheadle, Elephant and The Rider are an alternative indie trio made up of Pip, Tom, and James (Lead singer/guitar, bass, and drums respectively). Hot off the release of their recent single ‘Kept On A Keyring’ they are now following it up with the second single from their upcoming EP: ‘Lost In Love’. After receiving exciting radio play in both the UK and USA, they hope this new single will carry on the exciting run of releases for the band.

While we very much enjoyed ‘Kept On A Keyring’ as it’s a great introduction to the bands upcoming EP, with ‘Lost In LoveElephant and The Rider truly turn a corner and move up to a new level as they firmly establish their new exciting sound. This new single is proof in itself that the indie scenes, as oversaturated as they are, can still be incredibly fun, as bands such as Elephant and The Rider infuse the genre with fresh energy and new alternative ideas.

Right from the get-go ‘Lost In Love’ hits with you an addictive percussive drive that makes you get up and move. Combined with an unapologetically fuzzy bassline the rhythm section in this song commands your attention, throwing you directly into a one-man dance floor of your own making. This song is impossible to stay still to.

Moving past the rhythm section, the overall sound of this track oozes with the same playfulness and joy that can be found all over Elephant and The Rider’s social media platforms, coming to the forefront in the leadman Pip’s incredibly characterful vocal performance.

With a playtime of just under 3 minutes this song hits you with the massive amount of energy that it can muster, and before you’ve even had a chance to realise it’s come to an end, you’re listening to it again. This track has an uncanny talent for making you want to listen to it on loop. We keep catching ourselves playing it countless times in a row, raising the volume each time, and while this is definitely not good for our ears, we can’t seem to stop. This song is a delight.
