Lost In Translation – ‘RAMONA’ Single Review

Lost in Translation are an independent band based in Manchester fusing together a unique blend of pop, rock, and funk, led predominantly by their front man Tom Bellerby. After releasing their debut single i hope you know in late January, they hope to build on that success with their new single ‘RAMONA’, a fan favourite from their energetic live scene.

‘RAMONA’ is a great addition to the bands growing sound. Providing a look into their more funk influences, the verses are driven by an incredibly dynamic bassline providing the base for what are some amazingly funky sections of the song. Matt Macdonald, lead guitarist of the band is another great standout in this song, combining the classic funky sounding guitar parts in the verses with punchy guitar riffs and a soaring solo in the later sections.

However, where the song truly shines is a chorus that is guaranteed to be going round your head all day. These more rock driven choruses are a great showcase of Tom’s brilliant vocal performances, whilst also showing how this song has become such a hit in the band’s live scene. The choruses of ‘RAMONA’ are truly a testament to the wonderfully catchy songwriting that this band possess.

The best thing we can say about this song is it makes us want to see them live, the raw energy the whole band bring to the track makes us crave a live performance. ‘RAMONA’ is a great track for the band, and we can’t wait to see them on stage again singing along with the rest of the packed-out room.

Lost In Translation are playing 33 Oldham St on June the 6th, you can get tickets or any further band news through their socials here or listen to their new single ‘RAMONA’ here.
